Granville Street is getting a new store, and this one will be sweeter than all the rest.
Literally.
Ricardo's Kandy Korner is opening Friday, July 22 and owner Karmuddin "Ricardo" Rizaie says it'll be a big one.
"It is B.C.'s biggest candy store," he says.
Along with the usual imported sweets, cereals and exotic candies (like a five-pound gummy bear), the store's highlight is its bulk selection, Rizaie says.
"No stores really do bulk candy like this, with that kind of selection," he says, listing a few that are hard to find as bulk candies. "That's how you become B.C.'s biggest."
The chance to be the biggest in B.C. just came by chance, as the space was available and Rizaie saw the opportunity, especially located downtown on the popular Granville Street strip.
"This one, just being in Vancouver, finding a big space, I thought it was awesome to make that happen," he says. "If you want to be B.C,'s biggest you gotta be in Vancouver, right?"
It's the second candy store for Rizaie, who already operates the Kandy Korner in White Rock.
