The Davie Dosa Company in Vancouver's Davie Village will be closing in October.

After seven years, the Davie Dosa Company is closing up shop in the Davie Village.

The South Indian restaurant will be closing in October, owner Saravanan Ramachandran tells V.I.A. in an email. He notes the restaurant's lease is up and the landlord doesn't want to extend it.

"We are sad, this is our baby," says Ramachandran, adding that he was proud to open a South Indian restaurant in downtown Vancouver and offer a nearby location for locals.

Open 24/7 and located at 1235 Davie St., the shop's menu includes curries, biryani, breakfasts dishes and Indo-Chinese foods, along with the dosas.

Ramachandran adds that they were proud to be a part of the Davie community.

"We named [the restaurant] Davie for our community connections, which we built and have been a part of since we opened," he tells V.I.A.

While the current incarnation of the Davie Dosa Company is closing, Ramachandran adds that the business may return in some other form.
