Canada's largest award-winning pumpkin will be on display at the Richmond Halloween fireworks festival next week.
Resident Dave Chan and his 1,003-kilogram pumpkin, which is the country's largest pumpkin, and one of the world's 20 largest, will be on display at Minoru Park from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 31.
Chan’s pumpkin won the title at the Hard Rock Casino National Weigh Off in Sacramento, California last month.
His pumpkin was grown from a seed that came from Spain and is one of only 78 pumpkins in the world that is part of an “exclusive group of pumpkins” surpassing 2,200 pounds.
Visitors can talk and take photos with Chan and the pumpkin at the festival until the fireworks which will start at 8:30 p.m.
There will be a magician, jugglers, musicians and other roaming performers during the festival including face painters and stilt walkers.
Food trucks with hotdogs, mini donuts and bubble tea will be at the event.
