A B.C. man has pleaded guilty to uttering threats, robbery, assault, weapon and assault charges in Vancouver Provincial Court.

Robert Sutherland’s lawyer Samantha Purton entered the pleas with Sutherland agreeing by video link before Judge Eugene Jamieson.

All of the charges stem from Oct. 16, 2023 events in Vancouver.

The weapon charges included using an imitation weapon and assault with a weapon.

Jamieson accepted the pleas and said the specific circumstances of the events would be needed as the case moves toward sentencing.

The judge agreed to Purton’s request for a pre-sentencing report with a Gladue component, the latter being an assessment to profile specific background details of Indigenous offenders as specified by the Supreme Court of Canada.

Sutherland’s next appearance is on Jan. 9.
