The Surrey RCMP has cancelled its provincewide Amber Alert.
A man who allegedly kidnapped his two-month-old daughter has been arrested. The child has been located safely.
Police issued the alert after attempting to stop a vehicle with a man and child inside.
Surrey RCMP say they were conducting an investigation on Saturday and were speaking to a man who had a two-month old infant with him when he unexpectedly fled.
At 10:45 a.m., officers saw the vehicle again near 176 Street and 48 Avenue and tried to stop him but the vehicle fled.
Cpl. Vanessa Mann says police obtained further information that led to them to believe the infant was in imminent danger and the Amber Alert was issued at 12:27 p.m.
Shortly after at 12:41 p.m., Chilliwack RCMP received a tip that allowed police officers to locate the baby and the man in Chilliwack.
The man was taken into custody and is being held pending further investigation.
“The Amber Alert worked exactly how it was designed to work,” says Munn.“Police immediately began receiving tips, and that is what led us to being able to quickly and safely locate the infant.”
No other details are being released at this time.
Glacier Media has removed both the father and daughter’s name from the story.
