A Burnaby man has a date with his bank after winning a big lottery prize – although this win is actually from a few months ago.
Roderick Van Dorn scored a giant $89,807 prize from the February 7, 2021 BC 50/50 draw as part of Super Bowl LV, won by Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers over the Kansas City Chiefs.
“I knew I was going to watch the game so I decided to buy a ticket,” Van Dorn said.
After the game, he used technology to figure out that he had won.
“I had my ticket and decided to scan it on my phone when I realized I had won. I feel ecstatic.”
The Burnaby resident purchased the ticket from Save-On-Foods Market Crossing. He says he enjoys playing lottery games while dreaming of early retirement.
Van Dorn added, “It’s nice to be a winner.”
He plans to put his prize toward paying down his mortgage.
