Local fans of the Netflix hit romantic drama know that Virgin River, is sometimes filmed in Squamish, including at the WaterShed Grill which poses as Jack's bar in the series.
Klahanie Campground is also featured as the Fitches bed and breakfast, notes Netflix in Your Neighbourhood, the Netflix website that promotes the locations and other aspects of where its shows are shot.
Season 5 of Virgin River adds Squamish's Smoke Bluffs Park and the Sky Pilot Suspension Bridge at the Sea to Sky Gondola to local spots making their debut in the show.
This latest season, which was filmed before the writers' and actors' strikes, is full of the usual ups and downs of previous seasons.
The show is based on the Virgin River novels by Robyn Carr.
For those—er— virgin Virgin River watchers, here’s the lowdown.
The series follows Melinda "Mel" Monroe, played by actress Alexandra Breckenridge, a medical professional who moves to the remote town of Virgin River from Los Angeles.
She meets bar owner Jack Sheridan, played by actor Martin Henderson.
Drama ensues.
In this fifth season, a pregnant Mel faces a big decision about her future at the clinic.
"Jack squares off with some long-overdue confrontations as Doc and Hope’s respective impairments throw their identities into question," the Netflix In Your Neighbourhood website reads.
Outside of Squamish, the fifth season was also shot at Whonnock Lake in Maple Ridge; at North Vancouver’s Camp Howdy and Delany’s Coffee; Burnaby’s Central Park; and New Westminster’s Bernie Legge Theatre in Queen's Park, Netflix in Your Neighbourhood notes.
