A Vancouver Island photographer stayed up late to capture the perfect image of the northern lights.
Doug Clement says he was able to get the images of the aurora borealis at 4:30 a.m. on Halloween from a few locations.
"There are only a few good places to see the aurora borealis from Victoria, mostly anything from the east side of the island,” says Clement. "I’ve lived in Victoria all my life so I know all the best places on the southern island."
The aurora borealis didn’t start showing up till after 3:30 a.m.
"I was lucky that night,” he tells Glacier Media.
His photograph has been liked more than 1,000 times and shared more than 100 times on Facebook.
Clement was waiting at Thetis Lake Regional Park, a popular park just outside Victoria, and says the aurora borealis was glowing a bit, but it wasn't super intense.
The northern lights were expected to be highly active over most of Canada on Saturday (Oct. 30) and on Halloween night.
Clement took the pictures at Thetis Lake Regional Park, Cordova Bay Beach and Mount Douglas Park.
