A section of highway in B.C. is closed after large rocks have fallen onto the road.
On Thursday evening, large boulders and rocks fell onto Highway 7 blocking the section of road in Hope.
The Ministry of Transportation said the rockfall closed the highway, west of Haig Scale, and there is no estimated time it will reopen.
"Fortunately, no vehicles were involved and no injuries have been reported," says a spokesperson.
An assessment is currently in progress. Photographs from the scene show large boulders smashed all over the road and a large crack in the road.
The rockfall resulted in downed hydro lines and significant pavement damage.
People needing to travel can take two alternate routes, Highway 1 and Highway 9.
Back in 2021, two landslides trapped up to 275 people on a section of Highway 7 near Agassiz. People were trapped in their vehicles overnight and needed to be rescued by helicopter.
