A suspect who allegedly exposed himself to students at Maywood Community School in November was captured on security video, according to police.

A 60-year-old man has been charged for allegedly committing an indecent act and exposing himself to students at a Burnaby elementary school in November.

Police were called to Maywood Community School in Metrotown after an incident by the school fence just before 11 a.m. on Nov. 10, 2022, according to Burnaby RCMP news releases at the time.

A man had reportedly paced around outside the fence before allegedly exposing himself to students in the school yard, police said.

The suspect was captured on surveillance video in the area, according to police.

Investigators also put out a call for dashcam video, as they believed the suspect had nearly been hit by a vehicle near Central Boulevard and Bonsor Avenue after leaving the school.

“Witness(es) recall a vehicle nearly striking a man and then honking at him as he crossed Central Boulevard northbound near Bonsor after the incident,” stated a Nov. 12, 2022 police news release.

Karoly Molnar, 60, has now been charged with two offences in relation to the incident: committing an indecent act and exposing his genitals to someone under the age of 16.

Molnar has been released under conditions, including having no contact with anyone under the age of 16 unless there is another responsible adult present.

He is also banned from the area around Maywood Community School as well as from public parks and pools and anywhere else children under the age of 16 can reasonably be expected to be.

His release conditions also state he must wear pants or other apparel that completely covers his genitals at all times when he is in public.

Molnar missed his last court appearance on April 12, according to the Vancouver provincial court registry.

His next appearance is on May 3. If he doesn’t show up, the Crown is scheduled to apply for a warrant for his arrest.
