North Vancouver RCMP say a motorcyclist in his 20s is dead following a single-vehicle crash on Low Level Road Saturday night.

The crash happened around 10:30 p.m. when the man struck a retaining wall, said Const. Mansoor Sahak, North Vancouver RCMP spokesperson.

“Speed appears to be a factor,” Sahak said.

A photo posted on social media by the RCMP showed a section of Low Level Road closed east of St. Andrews Avenue.

“Our sincere condolences to the man’s family during this difficult time,” the message read. “Anyone affected by this tragedy can seek support from our victim services unit at 604-985-1311.”

Police are not releasing the name, although he was a North Vancouver resident, Sahak said.

The RCMP’s Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) has been brought in to investigate the crash.

“Because it’s a fatality, we want to determine what happened, even though there’s no other party involved,” Sahak said. “We owe that due diligence to the person who died to conduct a thorough investigation.”

Anyone with information or footage of the crash is asked to contact the RCMP.
