Nearly three months after a fatal shooting, a Maple Ridge man has been charged with murder.
Ridge Meadows RCMP officers were called to a shooting just after 5 p.m. on May 31 near Lougheed Highway and 223 Street.
A man was found suffering life-threatening injuries and died at the scene. Police were told by witnesses that a suspect fled the scene.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team took over the investigation and Ridge Meadows along with the Abbotsford Police Department were involved in the case.
Alexander Delair, 26, of Maple Ridge was charged with second-degree murder on Aug. 23.
Cpl. Esther Tupper thanks the policing partners for their assistance in the investigation.
"This charge is a testament to the dedication and teamwork demonstrated by the Ridge Meadows RCMP, AbbyPD, IHIT and the [Identification service] teams,” says Tupper.
