A neighbourhood brewery is planning a casual event with drinks and light bites — emphasis on "casual."
Steel & Oak Brewery (1319 3rd Ave.) is teaming up with Apéro Mode, a company that offers wine-tasting events and wine-pack deliveries, to host a pop-up that promises "casual counter service, mingling and music."
The event is inspired by the French tradition of apéro or the art of taking a late afternoon pause for a catch up and some wine with no dinner commitments.
Planned for Friday, Sept. 8, it invites people to take a chill pill and hang out with friends or co-workers, or meet new people, over wine and snacks.
In short, the event is all about "embracing the French energy on the West Coast," as per Apéro Mode website.
At the pop-up, sommelier Maude Renaud-Brisson, founder of Apéro Mode and former board member of the Canadian Association of Professional Sommeliers, will have a selection of wines set up under the big fermentation tanks at Steel & Oak.
Customers can either opt for a glass of Renaud-Brisson's curated wine, or order from a list of beers from the brewery’s taproom.
The drinks could be paired with Sirius Craving food truck's smash burgers and Sirius fries — while keeping in mind that nothing about the evening is, well, serious.
You can drop by Steel & Oak Brewing Co., 1319 Brewing Co., for the pop-up any time between 5 and 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 8.
No tickets or reservations are required.
