Mitchell Island in Richmond has re-opened after it was closed due to the rising waters from the king tide storm surge on Tuesday afternoon.
Vehicle access to and from the island has been restored as the flooding has receded, according to the City of Richmond on Twitter.
"There are no reported injuries," said the City of Richmond in a Twitter post, adding that the cause of the flooding on Mitchell Island "is still under investigation."
"The city's pump stations on the island have operated properly/well all day. Debris clean-up has begun."
The industrial swathe of Richmond – on the Fraser River between Richmond and Vancouver – was reportedly closed to traffic at around 12:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
Radio reports claim that there is no access to Mitchell Island from the Knight Street Bridge.
There are also people posting photos on social media of partially submerged vehicles on Mitchell Island.
While one person on social media is claiming to be stuck on the island, with no way to get off.
The Richmond News reported earlier today how the city's flood defences appear to be holding up against the king tide and rain storm at Britannia Heritage Shipyards in Steveston.
There were, however, signs of flooding at London Landing in Steveston during the peak of the king tide at around 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
