Police investigating theft of SFU sign on Burnaby Mountain

An SFU staff member reported the missing logo to campus security in mid-January.

SFU campus security is helping Burnaby RCMP investigate the theft of a red SFU logo from a sign on Burnaby Mountain.

If you've noticed the sign welcoming people to SFU's Burnaby Mountain campus is lacking a little colour these days, you're not alone.

Police are investigating the disappearance of the red SFU logo from the sign at the intersection of Gaglardi Way and University Drive.

A staff member on their way to work in mid-January noticed the logo was missing and reported it to SFU campus public safety who reported it to police, according to a university media relations officer.

Burnaby RCMP began investigating the theft on Jan. 13, according to spokesperson Cpl. Mike Kalanj. .

"There have not been any arrests; however, the investigation is ongoing," he said in an emailed statement.

SFU said campus public safety is working with Burnaby RCMP to "aid police in all avenues of their investigation."
