A Richmond man is going to B.C. Supreme Court on two charges of conspiracy to commit murder and one of attempting to pervert, defeat or obstruct justice.
The charges against Richard Charles Reed in Vancouver Provincial Court are 887 days old.
The charges cover alleged offences in Port Coquitlam, Vancouver and Richmond.
However, an articling student for the assigned prosecutor told Judge Reginald Harris on Oct. 21, it is hoped there will be a resolution to the case soon.
She told Harris it had been hoped Reed would be arraigned in the appearance, a taking of pleas thwarted by his refusal to attend court.
The case has been remanded to B.C. Supreme Court, Harris heard.
And, he was told, defence lawyer Kevin Westell has indicated he would not be requesting a preliminary hearing on the matter.
Such hearings are held in provincial court to determine if enough evidence exists to proceed to trial.
Harris asked if there had been previous difficulties getting Reed to attend court.
He was told defence needs to speak with Reed, get instructions and get their case moving forward.
