Four seals with the most adorable names were released back into the ocean this week.
On Thursday (Sept. 28) the Vancouver Aquarium Marine Mammal Rescue Society released harbour seals Dorothy Island, Creme De La Creme, Eye Candy, and Piece of Cake at Porteau Cove after weeks of rehabilitation.
Creme De La Creme was rescued on July 14 at North Secretary Island in the Gulf Islands as a result of maternal separation and wounds. Eye Candy was rescued the same day at North Pender Island following maternal separation and being emaciated and lethargic.
Piece of Cake was also rescued due to maternal separation and found on July 20 at Crofton on Vancouver Island.
Dorothy Island was rescued as an adult, unlike typical rescues, in English Bay after appearing lethargic and underweight.
