Alone in a Starbucks with no one but the baristas, Ryan Spibey silently reveled in a life-changing moment.
The Port Moody man scratched his way to winning $675,000 playing Set for Life — a game by the BC Lottery Corporation (BCLC).
Now, he can't contain his excitement in realizing his biggest dreams have come true.
"I always thought one day it could be me," he said in a release today (Nov. 3) recalling the moment from Sept. 28, 2021.
"I dreamed of winning and the feeling is like being on top of the world."
Spibey is now planning a trip around the world, including a dream family trip to Japan and the South Pacific with his parents.
But, not before treating them to a mouth-watering steak and lobster dinner after sharing his big win.
"They were just shocked and my mom actually started crying tears of joy for me," Spibey explained.
"This will change my life. Everyone has dreams and travelling is the highest on my dream list. It’s very exciting."
He bought his ticket at the Petro-Canada gas station at the corner of Lougheed Highway and Willingdon Avenue in Burnaby before buying a cup of coffee at the Starbucks where he scratched to victory.
BCLC says, in addition to Spibey's earnings, more than $11 million in Set for Life winnings have been claimed in 2021 this far.
