A 29-year-old man will be going to trial on three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking as well as weapons charges.
The latter charges stem from July 23, 2019, when Tristin Johnson is said to have carried a concealed folding knife for a dangerous purpose, state court registry files.
The drug charges are for the same date and are with a co-accused.
Together, they are charged with the possession of cocaine, heroin, fentanyl, carfentanil, methamphetamine, etizolam and benzodiazapine for the purpose of trafficking.
The second man is also charged with the same weapons charges except his relate to a knife rather than a folding one.
Judge Jennifer Oulton on Nov. 21 heard that Johnston is pleading not guilty to all charges. He has elected a trial by provincial court judge. Defence lawyer David Fai told Oulton there will also be a constitutional challenge to the validity of a search warrant.
Oulton heard the trial would include testimony from two police officers and one drug expert.
The situation of the second man cannot be determined as the file is not accessible through the online court services system.
Johnson cannot have any contact with the other man.
A date is being set for a pre-trial conference.
