Police are turning to the public for help to solve a 2021 homicide that left a 24-year-old man dead in Vancouver.
“We’re asking these people to come forward and tell us what they know, so we can obtain answers and accountability in this unsolved case,” says Sgt. Steve Addison with the Vancouver Police Department.
Investigators believe they know who killed Luis Rosas Saenz but need witnesses to come forward.
On July 10, 2021, Saenz was fatally stabbed after leaving a house party in the morning.
Witnesses called police after seeing a fight between three men near Southwest Marine Drive and West 57th around 6:30 a.m.
When police arrived on the scene, Saenz was found seriously injured and the suspects had fled. A passerby provided first aid to him, but he died in the hospital.
"There are people in our community who witnessed this homicide and others who may have information that could help bring the person responsible for this crime to justice,” says Addison.
Police believe he was stabbed by one of the men he had a verbal altercation with outside the house and there were eyewitnesses to the stabbing who have yet to come forward and cooperate with the investigation.
“Their evidence could be pivotal, and we’re asking them to do the right thing, work with our investigators, and help us solve this case,” says Addison, noting the suspect has been identified.
Anyone who has dash-camera footage or witnessed the stabbing is asked to contact VPD’s Homicide Unit at 604-717-2500 or anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
