Horseshoe Bay
Crowding in for the unveiling of the grand prize, these eager participants, circa 1955, are part of a long history of fishing derbies at Sewell’s marina in Horseshoe Bay. At the first salmon derby in 1937, the grand prize was a “clinker row boat” built by Dan Sewell himself, with funds going toward constructing a new community hall in Horseshoe Bay.
