On December 22, 1950 a plane crashed into the mountains near Penticton B.C., and a heroic rescue effort ensued.
In an episode of our history show BC Was Awesome, crash survivor Dorothy Furness told us that she was going home for Christmas on the flight. It was the first time she'd ever been on an airplane and "Enjoyed the excitement of it all," until the crash landing, of course.
