Andrew Garfield included a necklace from Vancouver jewellery brand Pyrrha as one of the 10 things he can't live without.
The actor was interviewed by British GQ as part of their 10 Essentials video series which has also featured celebrities such as Pierce Brosnan and Bridgerton star Jonathan Bailey, and among his list which included books, a skateboard, and chocolate, he divulged the meaning behind his direction talisman.
"My closest friends gave it to me in a period of time where I needed to trust the direction I was going in," he says of the silver necklace with a compass on it. "That was definitely a symbol of that invisible net of friendship."
Founded by husband-and-wife team Danielle and Wade Papin, Pyrrha's talismans are made in Vancouver and modelled after wax seals stamped with inspirational imagery.
The certified B-corp has an archive of over a hundred seals that symbolize everything from personal growth, achievement, and empowerment to love, family, and spirituality. Because each of Pyrrha's talismans is imbued with meaning, Pyrrha wearers often sport the jewelry as a reminder of important moments in their lives, just as Garfield has done.
The Direction talisman necklace was given to Garfield after a "terrible loss" and he says that friendship stepped in to fill the void of that loss. "It's a reminder maybe that the more lost you are, the more of an adventure you're on."
