Terry Fox Foundation now out with 'Finish It' swag

The charity in the late Port Coquitlam hero’s name unveiled its limited-edition merchandise this week to mark the 45th year of the Marathon of Hope; the collection was produced by Adidas.

“Finish It.”

That’s the message on the new collection of T-shirts, hoodies, sweatpants, ball caps and toques now on sale by the Terry Fox Foundation.

The charity in the late Port Coquitlam hero’s name unveiled its limited-edition swag this week to mark the 45th year of the Marathon of Hope, which Fox launched on April 12, 1980, from St. John’s, N.L.

In September 1980, Fox ended his cross-country journey to raise money for cancer research, asking Canadians to “finish it” in his absence. Fox died in June 1981 from the disease.

“Over the last four decades, we’ve made extraordinary strides in cancer research, improving diagnoses, treatments and outcomes,” said the foundation’s executive director Michael Mazza, in a news release, adding, “Our ‘Finish It’ collection isn’t just a tribute to the 45th anniversary of the Marathon of Hope — it embodies our unwavering commitment to advancing vital research and finishing cancer as we know it.”

Merchandise shipping will start on April 12, 2025.

Also on that day, all general donations and peer-to-peer fundraising for the next Terry Fox Run on Sept. 14, 2025, will be matched by PharmaChoice Canada, by up to $100,000.

“On behalf of our more than 1,000 independent community pharmacy owners, PharmaChoice Canada is proud to be a matching donation supporter for the annual Terry Fox Run as part of bringing about healthier communities for Canadians,” said Trevor Bills, PharmaChoice Canada board member and pharmacist owner – Life Med Pharmacy, in the release.

Meanwhile, Canadians who sign up for the Terry Fox Run on April 12 will also have a chance to win the full “Finish It” collection.

And on April 12, Darrell Fox, who was on the Marathon of Hope, will unveil a new exhibit about his brother and other Port Coquitlam athletic champions at the Port Coquitlam Community Centre (2150 Wilson Ave.); the public event with Mayor Brad West and Coquitlam–Port Coquitlam MP Ron McKinnon takes place at 11 a.m.
