One of South Vancouver's car dealerships may soon have a mixed-use 19-storey tower on it.
A proposal from Hungerford Properties and Mercury Properties shows plans for a pair of new towers at 396 South West Marine Drive; currently that's a Kia dealership.
The proposed building would see two towers, one 10 storeys and the other 19, rise from a three-storey podium.
"The current proposal offers an office and stacked industrial footprint of scale that would continue to put the Marine Landing area on the map for employers seeking space in suburban, nodes and markets throughout Metro Vancouver," state the proponents in a report to the city.
The towers would predominantly be office space; one of the central ideas behind the building is to provide more space for employers and employees in the area. It hopes to draw "large technology and institutional users, while simultaneously appealing to small and medium-sized local businesses that have virtually no options in the Vancouver market."
Light industrial space is also included.
"The addition of more employment space in the Marine Landing area will work to balance the community by providing space for jobs next door to residential density," they state.
It's also noted that its location near the Canada Line would capitalize on the transit system.
Along with the new office space, the plan includes storefronts at ground level and a 37-space daycare.
