A $350,000 vehicle stolen from a West Vancouver home more than a year ago has turned up in White Rock.
In early February 2020, thieves broke into a home on the 1600 block of Marlowe Place and made off with a Rolls-Royce Phantom, as well as firearms and ammunition. The owners were out of the country at the time and didn’t report the break-and-enter until two weeks later, according to Const. Kevin Goodmurphy.
The trail on the case went cold until recently, when a White Rock RCMP checked in on the home of a White Rock resident under a court ordered curfew. There, investigators spotted the ultra-luxury auto in the garage. Due to its rarity, they believed it was stolen and investigators returned on Dec. 23 with a warrant, connecting the car with the West Vancouver break-in. They also seized 800 rounds of ammo of various calibres but no guns.
"As is often the case with property crimes, offenders move the stolen goods into other jurisdictions in hopes of avoiding detection. Offenders should know that police agencies, regardless of the uniform or jurisdiction, work together to solve these crimes, as was demonstrated in this investigation,” said Const. Chantal Sears, White Rock RCMP spokeswoman.
No charges have yet been recommended to the Crown but the file remains under investigation.
The Rolls has since been turned over to West Vancouver police who will seek to return it to the owner.
