If you thought some of Canada's best sunsets are located in your own backyard, you are not alone.
A new study finds that a whopping four of the top 10 best places to soak in the fiery glow of a sunset in the country are located in Vancouver.
Mornings.co.uk used Tripadvisor to gather data on the best places to watch a sunrise and sunset by searching "Things To Do" using keywords "sunset" and "sunrise" in each country of the world. Places with the highest number of mentions of, respectively, "sunset" and "sunrise" in their reviews were deemed the best places to watch sunset or sunrise.
The selection of places in the survey is limited to physical locations, i.e. public spaces, mountain peaks, beaches, buildings, establishments, etc.
For sunrises, no B.C. cities made Canada's top 10 list. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Banff National Park made several appearances on the list, as the provincial park is praised for its awe-inspiring mountain views.
Moraine Lake took the top spot on the sunrise list, with report authors highlighting that it is a "beautiful turquoise alpine lake" nestled in the pristine mountain range. "The view here is priceless."
Several other lakes were lauded for their breathtaking sunrise views, and Niagara Falls also made an appearance in the top 10.
For sunsets, Toronto's popular CN Tower claimed the top spot. The scenic locale was mentioned a staggering 735 on Tripadvisor for having an ideal vantage point to watch the sunset. Report authors note that it is "currently the ninth tallest free-standing structure in the world" and is an iconic part of the city's skyline.
Vancouver's English Bay followed in second, with 440 Tripadvisor mentions. Stanley Park landed in third, with 339 mentions. The Vancouver lookout placed fifth, with 204 mentions.
Vancouver's beloved seawall came seventh, with 149 mentions.
