69-year-old Vancouver convenience store employee attacked, public intervenes

The suspect remains in custody, according to police

A convenience store employee was attached in Gastown, on Aug. 9, 2023, according to the Vancouver Police Department.

A 69-year-old employee of a convenience store located near Carall and Cordova streets was attacked Wednesday (Aug. 9), according to the Vancouver Police Department.

VPD tell V.I.A. they won't be releasing the name of the store to protect the victim's privacy however, Constable Tania Visintin confirms over email that the employee was a woman and that bystanders intervened by pulling the assailant off of her and calling 911.

VPD report that they have arrested a 50-year-old suspect who remains in custody.

The employee sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
