Just before midnight recently, Delta police were notified of an alarm going off at a business that sells high-end products in Delta.
An officer attended to conduct a walk through, along with a property rep.
“At first blush the alarm appeared false – but then the alert officer caught a movement out of the corner of their eye. It seemed a gerbil with a taste for the finer things of life was on the loose in the store,” said DPD in a social media post. “Police determined it had likely escaped from a neighbouring pet store, then broke into another business. The gerbil was no match for the officer though. The fuzzy culprit was arrested, secured and gently transported to a nearby animal clinic. The pet store was able to pick up the cheeky escape artist the next day.”
