Vancouver police are searching for a suspect after a senior was attacked in his home.
The incident happened on the afternoon of Oct. 29 when a man went into a home at East 35th Avenue and Victoria Drive. He entered through an unlocked door.
The homeowner, an 89-year-old man, confronted the stranger, who attacked him then fled the scene.
Police were called around 4:30 p.m. to the home and found the injured homeowner, who was taken to hospital. He's still there, in serious condition, according to the police.
“This incident is absolutely frightening,” says Const. Tania Visintin in a press release. “Preliminary evidence suggests there is no relation between the victim and the suspect and that it was purely a random, isolated incident.”
She notes that there is a public safety risk in this case and it's unknown who is responsible for the attack.
Footage from outside shows the suspect approaching the house.
Anyone who has information about the home invasion and attack is asked to call the Vancouver Police Department at 1-604-717-2541 or Crime Stoppers at1-800-222-8477.
