Steve Preston really reeled in a big one: A $500,000 Lotto Max win on Christmas Eve.

The Langley resident, who happens to enjoy catch-and-release fishing, is already planning a fishing holiday with some of his "absolutely life-changing" winnings, according to the BCLC.

“It feels so amazing…like pins and needles,” says Preston of his Dec. 24, 2021 win. He bought his ticket at the Douglas Park Market in Langley.

To celebrate, Preston treated his family to a New Year’s Eve prime rib and lobster dinner. But he also has plans to share some of the new wealth with his kids, as well as pay off his mortgage.

It's been a lot to process for the lotto player, who recalls the moment he learned he'd won: “I scanned the ticket in the machine at the store and then the retailer checked it,” he says. “I couldn’t believe it – I was in shock!”
