A Richmond resident may have caught a botched purse-snatching attempt on video.
Li, who did not want to give his first name, was in the parking lot opposite the Richmond Anti-Aging Clinic on No. 3 and Lansdowne Roads shortly before 6 p.m. on Thursday when he heard someone crying out for help.
"I couldn't hear it clearly at first, but the woman kept yelling and screaming and making noises," Li told the Richmond News.
When he got out of the car to get a better look, he saw a man wearing a red cap appearing to have run across No. 3 Road to the clinic with a woman chasing after him.
Li decided to record the incident with his phone and posted the video on the Chinese social media platform Little Red Book.
The video shows a group of people holding onto the man outside the clinic and passersby were seen approaching the group and possibly giving the group a hand in subduing the man.
"The (man) didn't really resist and was subdued by everyone," said Li.
When Li left the area at around 6 p.m., he could no longer see the crowd but spotted a police vehicle parked in the area.
The News reached out to Richmond RCMP for more information but was told police have no record of the incident as of Friday.
