Snow Machine Inc., one of the largest makers of snowmaking machines in the world, holds an annual photo contest for shots featuring their gear; this year two of the top six features Cypress Mountain Resort (and the sun).
One is Arron Jeanneault's shot of a snow gun firing flakes into the sky, all lit by the sun and framed by forest and snow. The other, from Igor Gayanov, is similar in description, but very different in composition, as the sun is just over the horizon. Both are snow makers. The other four photos are all from American mountains
The contest will be determined by the very scientific and fair judgment of a Facebook vote, with the three most-liked pics as of noon Jan. 8 (that's this Friday) moving on. As of publication Jeanneault's piece is in third, while Gayanov is in fifth.
