A recent survey named Canada the most desirable country in which to live, yet, simultaneously, the country lost its previous rank as the "best country in the world."
U.S. News & World Report has placed Canada at the top of its new report titled "These Are the Countries Where People Would Most Like to Live."
Canada is followed by New Zealand, Switzerland (who knocked Canada out of its former first-place best country ranking this year), Australia, and Spain.
However, Canada has ranked third this year in their Best Countries report, bumping down from last year's first place. The country received an overall score of 97.8.
The report is based on a survey of over 17,000 people across the world between Apr. 30 and Jul. 13 who were asked to assess perceptions of 78 countries on 73 different metrics.
Canada ranked highly in categories like Agility, in which attributes like Adaptable, Modern, and Progressive were highly-scored, and in Quality of Life, getting a 100 score for its job market and high scores for our "Well-developed public education system" as well as safety and economic stability. The ranking was brought down for Quality of Life, however, by a low score for affordability.
The survey was developed in partnership with BAV Group, a unit of global marketing communications company WPP, and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
