A second roller hockey fundraiser tournament is being held in honour of Metro Vancouver teen Markus Schouten to raise money for the Canuck Place Children's Hospice.

One of the last things that Markus Schouten told his friends was that he wanted each of them to have a new set of rollerblades to play hockey on. "So you have something to do this summer other than watch TV," he said.

Markus passed away in May last year after being diagnosed with an aggressive type of bone cancer called Ewing Sarcoma.

In honour of the Langley-born teen, his friends and family organized a roller hockey fundraiser tournament to raise money for the Canuck Place Children's Hospice where Schouten spent his last moments. The event raised over $26,000.

Another tournament will be held this year, two days after what would have been Shouten's 20th birthday, with a bigger goal of $30,000. This year's roller hockey game will have more teams and will run for six hours.
