The River Rock Casino will be closed as of 11:59 p.m. Sunday due to concerns over the spread of the novel coronavirus.

In an announcement posted to the River Rock’s website, the company — which is operated by the Great Canadian Gaming Corporation — says that no cases of COVID-19 have been reported at the casino.

“This measure has been deemed to be in the best interests of the public’s health and the ongoing efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19,” reads the statement.

The statement also says that hotel guests will have to check out by 11 a.m. Monday.

The decision to close was made by the gaming corporation, in conjunction with the British Columbia Lottery Corporation.

Nine other B.C. casinos will also be suspending operations Sunday night. There have not been any cases of the coronavirus reported at any of the casinos, according to a statement on the company’s website.

Other affected casinos include the Hard Rock Casino in Coquitlam and Hastings Racecourse and Casino in Vancouver.
