We all know Vancouver's rental market is tight, but this takes "tight" to a new level (because getting a mattress in is a tight fit).
While most rooms are measured in feet, this one is measured in inches. It's 70 inches by 62 inches.
That's about 5 feet 10 inches by 5 feet 2 inches. The bed of a pick-up truck, like a Ford 150, is significantly bigger, as are new jail cells. Basically, it's small.
According to this list of current NBA players, only one (Isaiah Thomas) could sleep here, and only barely (it's a good thing he keeps his hair short).
Another way of looking at it is mattress size. A chart of mattress sizes only has one that would fit in this room without getting squished. It's a crib. All other standard sizes are at least 74.5 inches, leaving 4.5 inches to get jammed in somehow.
While some may find its size an issue, it's also windowless. For anyone claustrophobic, this is probably not the room for you.
At $750 per month, it is one of the cheaper places to live in the city. The average rent for single apartments in Canada is more than double that, at $1,888, while in Vancouver it's more than triple at $2,377, so cost will likely be a motivating factor for people interested in the room.
As will its location; the person who placed the ad on Craigslist writes that it's close to the city's core.
"The building is right in the downtown and just 3 minutes walk to the Stadium Skytrain Station," they write.
They also note that there's only one other person in the studio-style apartment.
"You can use other parts of the studio as well," they note.
