A man was arrested after setting a fire in the Delta Police Public Safety Building in North Delta Saturday.
The man started a fire on the couches in the lobby at approximately 1:30 p.m., according to Delta police.
The building's sprinkler went off and the building was evacuated, police noted.
“Fortunately there were no injuries. The man was quickly arrested and is currently in custody,” says Delta police public affairs coordinator Cris Leykauf.
The building's lobby sustained significant smoke, fire and water damage, police said.
Police are advising the public to call 604-946-4411 or go to police headquarters in Ladner if non-emergency police services over the long weekend are needed.
