A coyote that attacked a three-year-old boy in Burnaby yesterday has been destroyed.
Burnaby RCMP were called to the Sperling-Broadway neighbourhood at about 5:15 p.m. Tuesday for reports a child had been attacked by a coyote.
The boy was transported to hospital with minor injuries, according to police.
RCMP contacted the B.C. Conservation Officer Service (COS) to come and locate the coyote, according to police.
“A coyote matching the description and the behaviour of the animal that attacked the child was destroyed by COS in the area late last night,” reads a statement on the service’s Facebook page.
The conservation officer service said it would keep working with partners to provide education to the general public about how to prevent conflict with coyotes.
Encounters with aggressive and threatening wild animals should be reported to the RAPP line at 1-877-952-7277.
