The classic tale of Peter Pan is getting the Disney live-action treatment, and it's being shot in Vancouver right now.
The film will star Alexander Molony as the flying teenager, Ever Anderson (Milla Jovovich's daughter) as Wendy and Yara Shahidi (from Black-ish and Grown-ish) as Tinkerbell. Co-stars include Jude Law (from...let's go with Gattaca) as Captain Hook and Jim Gaffigan as Smee. Alyssa Wapanatâhk, a Cree actress from Alberta, will be Tiger Lily.
Molly Parker and Alan Tudyk will play the Darling parents, while Joshua Pickering and Jacobi Jupe will play John and Michael (respectively).
Principal photography has begun in Vancouver, according to a press release from Disney, though it's unclear if the stars of the movie are in town yet.
The press release also doesn't give much information on the plot, other than it's "J. M. Barrie’s novel 'Peter and Wendy' and inspired by the 1953 animated classic", so it's uncertain whether it'll follow as closely to the animated film as the live-action Lion King or vary more like the Mulan live-action remake.
It's shooting under the name "Bonfire," according to a production list from the Director's Guild of Canada. Originally the film was slated to be shot last year, but the pandemic delayed things.
David Lowery will helm it; previously he directed the Disney live-action remake of Pete's Dragon.
