An investigation into a fire on East Hastings Street has led to the arrest of a 40-year-old man by the Vancouver Police Department.

While an investigation is ongoing, a man has been arrested in connection with an intentionally set fire in East Vancouver.

The fire occurred midday on Jan. 22 at 877 E Hastings St. At the time, traffic had to be blocked for Vancouver Fire Rescue Services (VFRS), while they made their way into the building's parkade.

On Jan. 29, VFRS announced the fire was "intentionally set" on X/Twitter.

The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) tells V.I.A. the incident is being investigated as an arson.

No details can be released at this time, according to the VPD, aside from the fact a 40-year-old Vancouver man has been arrested in relation to the investigation.
