A 10K run will close several streets in Vancouver Sunday

Gastown and Strathcona residents will see thousands of runners in their neighbourhoods

This Sunday, Sept. 22, will see Gastown and Strathcona streets blocked off as runners race through the neighbourhoods.

The runners will be part of the Under Armour Eastside 10K, part of the Canada Running Series of events. The sold-out event will see 3,500 runners race through the streets for the 11th edition of the 10K.

As part of the race several streets in the area will be closed to traffic. The earliest will be closed at 5 a.m., while the last will reopen at noon.

TransLink's alerts page provides details on detours for affected bus routes, such as the 4 Powell, which will be detoured on Sunday due to the race.

  • Hastings to Cordova 5 a.m. to noon
  • Cordova to Water 5 a.m. to noon (local access allowed)

Cordova Street

  • Cambie to Carrall 5 to 11:30 a.m. 
  • Cambie to Richards 7:30 to 8:45 a.m.
  • Gore to Princess 7:30 to 10:30 a.m.
  • Columbia to Carrall 7:30 to 10 30 a.m.

Cambie Street

  • Cordova to Water 7:30 to 8:55 a.m.

Water Street

  • Entirely closed

Alexander Street

  • Carrall to Main 7:30 to 10:30 a.m.
  • Main to Hawks 7:30 to 10:25 a.m.

Gore Avenue

  • Alexander to Cordova 7:30 to 9:10 a.m.
