Thank you for helping us raise over $20,000 to support Indigenous children

Three weeks ago we were floored by the initial response to Tsimshian artist Morgan Asoyuf's Every Child Matters t-shirt, which shows two eagles holding around like a heart, depicting them protecting with love.

In the first few days, we sold more than 1,000 of them, resulting in roughly $11,000 in profits. 100% of which will be donated to the Orange Shirt Society and the BC Aboriginal Child Care Association.

We had initially aimed to sell 100 shirts, and I'm proud to announce that as of today, July 1, our readers have purchased more than 2,000(!!!) of them, allowing us to make a donation of more than $20,000, to be split between two organizations which work to raise awareness and benefit Indigenous children in British Columbia.

We're still working on sending out these thousands of t-shirts, with many people already receiving them and wearing them proudly this Canada Day, a day of reflection for everyone in this country.

Today I'd like to send a huge thank you to all of the people who have shown their support and helped us support these groups while showing solidarity, as we slowly inch our way toward true reconciliation. It will be a work in progress for generations, and V.I.A. is committed to contributing what we can as a news media organization by telling stories, connecting people, and, sometimes, raising funds to help out.

If you don't have a shirt to wear for Orange Shirt Day this year you can purchase one from us HERE or by clicking below. Again, 100% of the proceeds go to charity.
