Shortly after a fire broke out in a building on Keefer Street in Chinatown around noon, Vancouver Fire Rescue Services (VFRS) got an alarm for another fire nearby.
At around 12:50 p.m. on Friday (Sept. 9) VFRS received notice of a fire that started on the roof of a two-storey building at 6 E Hastings St. The business Liberty Market is located in the same building.
"It was confined to the origin of the fire and the upper floors of that particular building were vacant so there were no displaced occupants. No firefighters were hurt on scene," says VFRS Battalion Chief Wes Abrams.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, according to Abrams.
