If your boat, trailer, power tool or firearm was stolen across Metro Vancouver in the last two months, the RCMP may have found them.
Roughly $1 million in stolen property was recently recovered from, what officers are calling, a "sophisticated" crime operation.
Langley Mounties detained eight people after members of its Drugs and Organized Crime Section (DOCS) executed a search warrant at a Fern Ridge neighbourhood property on Jan. 7.
The suspects have since been released as police continue the investigation.
DOCS opened a case file on Dec. 17, 2024, in response to a series of break-and-enters across the region.
According to a release issued Friday, Jan. 24, investigators were ultimately able to identify a possible suspect, as well as a related property in the 19700-block of 28 Avenue.
Items recovered from the bust included:
- 10 stolen vehicles including trailers, boats and ATVs
- Three (3) loaded firearms
- Approximately 10,000 litres of gasoline and diesel
- A multitude of various power tools
- Numerous electronic devices
- Believed to be involved in the production of fake and fraudulent IDs and Vehicle Identification Numbers (VIN)
The sophisticated design of a large outbuilding resembled a hardware store that had been strategically established as a resale operation,
said Langley RCMP spokesperson Sgt. Zynal Sharoom.
Officers continue to work to identify the rightful owners of several hundred seized items in order to advance the investigation.
The Lower Mainland District Integrated Emergency Response Team (IERT) also helped recover the stolen property.
Anyone who purchased items via social media advertisements in the Langley area of 19700-block 28 Avenue is encouraged to call the RCMP at 604-532-3200 and quote file number 2024-40997.
