If you're a FortisBC customer, you're not going to see a jump in your natural gas bill next month.
The B.C. Utilities Commission has told the company it can maintain the cost of gas as of July 1. (Every three months, FortisBC and the BCUC review the rates to ensure they're fair.)
As of July 1 there will be no change to #NaturalGas prices. With rates remaining at historic lows, natural gas continues to be an affordable energy option for your home or business https://t.co/NsLlDMEcCC #BC pic.twitter.com/mEdSrUaxFN

A press release notes in 2017 FortisBC saw a record 20,800 new customers in B.C. and reached one million customers in the province last fall. It states while a significant percentage of B.C. households count on electricity for heating and cooling, natural gas is roughly one-third of the cost.
“Our more than one million customers have made it clear that they want access to natural gas in their homes,” said Diane Roy, vice-president of regulatory affairs at FortisBC, in the release. “As both an affordable and reliable fuel, natural gas is a smart choice for our customers especially since prices remain near their lowest levels in over a decade.”
