Don't be fooled by the sunshine, Vancouverites: Tuesday's forecast calls for chilly daytime temps and a frigid drop in overnight lows.
A special weather statement issued over the long weekend cautions Metro Vancouver residents it's going to get quite cold in the region today, with the cold snap lasting through Wednesday (Feb. 23).
"A period of unusually cold temperatures and strong outflow winds will continue," cautions Environment Canada Tuesday morning.
On Tuesday Vancouver is expected to see a mix of sun and cloud in the sky and a high of just 2C, however, the wind chill is going to keep things decidedly cold, clocking in at -9C. Though we'll have clear skies overnight, the low will drop to -6C, with the wind chill at -10C Tuesday night.
That's going to keep us even chillier on Wednesday, when Vancouver will only get to a high of 1C during the day, and a low of -5C overnight.
We'll start to warm up a bit Thursday and Friday, and the sun and clear skies should stick around, however by the weekend we'll have warmer-than-average temps of 10C-11C with rain through to Monday.
The City of Vancouver operates warming centres during extreme cold weather for anyone who needs it.
