Surrey RCMP believe a string of alleged sexual assaults involving women who were grabbed and groped while walking down the street may be linked.
Investigators believe the three incidents, which occurred between April 24 and May 21, may have been committed by one person because they were all reported in the Newton area and share a common suspect vehicle.
Police are also reviewing an additional five incidents that occurred between May 15 and May 24 to determine if they may be linked to the same suspect.
Traffic cameras in the area show a grey or brown Honda Accord with rear tinted windows and a sun roof.
The suspect is described as a South Asian male, about five feet ten inches tall with a medium build and dark hair.
Police say they are actively searching for the vehicle and suspect, through both overt and covert patrols, and will continue to do so until a suspect is located.
"Sexual assaults are disturbing crimes and can generate apprehension in the community. On behalf of the Surrey RCMP I want to assure you that we are committed to public safety and locating the person responsible for these incidents," said Staff Sgt. Major Beth McAndie, acting senior investigator for major crimes, in a statement.
"Sometimes we see a series of incidents such as this after a person has gone through a personal crisis," she said. "If this is the case, we encourage you to come forward to speak to us."
Anyone with information is asked to contacted Surrey RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
