Looking forward to some torrential downpours this weekend?
Don't hold your breath.
While the Metro Vancouver weather forecast calls for showers on several occasions, no heavy rain is expected.
Starting on Thursday (Aug. 5), Environment Canada calls for a high of 24°C on the coast and 28°C inland. With humidity, however, these temperatures will feel more like 29°C and 33°C. While the day is expected to be sunny and bright, the evening forecast includes a 70 per cent chance of showers.
Friday's forecast includes a 30 per cent chance for wet weather throughout the entire day, while Saturday's forecast calls for a 60 per cent chance of showers in the morning and a 30 per cent chance of showers overnight.
While Sunday's forecast only includes the chance for showers during the day, the overnight low will drop down to 14°C.
Heading into next week, the forecast includes a mix of sun and cloud on Monday and Tuesday with daytime highs climbing into the mid-20s.
Will there be another scorching hot heat wave in Metro Vancouver this summer?
While you might have to be prepared for more sweltering humidity, it isn't likely that B.C. will see the same scorching daily highs that it did during the heat wave at the end of June.
"That kinda thing is a once-in-a-lifetime event," Environment Canada meteorologist Doug Lundquist told Vancouver Is Awesome.
"Let's hope that doesn't happen [again] for decades."
