Indigo took the coffee and comfy chairs movement of book retailers in the early 2000s and flipped it on its head to reposition itself as a major lifestyle brand, leaps and bounds ahead of a typical book store. Now the giant retailer offers homewares, stationary, clothing, and beauty products.
Continuing in their quest for total lifestyle domination, Indigo’s latest move is to open a 1,300 square-foot beauty and wellness shop inside their Robson street location. The expansive new addition will have beauty and skincare essentials alongside health and fitness gear, and of course, books.
The idea is a full-service holistic approach to wellness. Brands like Origins, Shiseido, Blume, and Patchology will be featured, as will clean beauty cult favourite The Detox Market which has its very own wall.
Bushbalm, a Canadian skincare company that focuses on ingrown hairs, razor burns, and dark spots on sensitive areas is available as part of Indigo's goal to open up conversations about self-care and taboo topics (they already sell vibrators).
Gadgets for beauty and fitness by brands like Foreo, a Swedish beauty-tech brand will also be in-store. They make intriguing looking acne busting toys with blue light, heating and cooling, and pulsating powers and specially-trained staff will be on-hand in the space to guide you through the wide range of products.
The grand opening is April 30 and Indigo has announced plans to host beauty and wellness events in the space later this year, including special classes for its Plum Plus members.
